ABOUT OUR APOSTOLATE

About our Apostolate

Dear Friends and supporters:

In recent years there have been so many inquiries addressing a single point that we think it warrants a word from us at this time.  Again and again we’ve been asked why our publications have not been given more exposure, or why they were allowed to go out of print so quickly, or why more of my writings haven’t been published, and of those published, why the “mainstream” traditional Catholic press has, on the whole, mostly ignored them.  A few of our more successful full-length works sold over 14,000 copies (No King But Caesar); one article – and one only – sold over 80,000 reprints; another 11,000; but most others sell, on the average, between 500 and 2,500 copies a piece.  Not as good as we might expect or would have hoped.  So we’ve had occasion to ponder some of these very questions ourselves.

Is it that our books, booklets, articles and book reviews are not worthy of a broader circulation and readership?  That may be so, but not according to our long-time friends and advocates who’ve sent in countless encouraging letters, year after year, expressing how much they appreciated and benefited by what we’ve written or published.  And not according to a growing number of traditional priests, both SSPX and independent, that have wholeheartedly supported this apostolate.  While I certainly make no claim to any special gift of insight or discernment in the face of the diabolic confusion of our times (I do nothing more than study and pass on to others that superlative wellspring of thought, of principles, of exhortations and of warnings issued forth by the Popes and by the Mother of Christ and by such brilliant minds as Fathers Fahey and Cahill and Count de Poncins and Archb. Lefebvre) nevertheless, the list of people that found our writings worthy enough to submit an unsolicited endorsement have included, in addition to innumerable grass-roots Catholics, such luminaries as Society of St. Pius X founder and former Superior General of the Holy Ghost Fathers, His Grace Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre; author/lecturer Hamish Fraser; the French monk Abbe’ de Nantes; author/publisher Yves Dupont; editor/publisher Dr. James J. Kolby; Vatican insider/bestselling author Fr. Malachi Martin; former presidential hopeful and forerunner of Congressman Ron Paul, Congressman John Schmitz; editor/publisher Don McLean; philosophy professor and Catholic radio host, Dr. William Marra; SSPX superiors Fr. Franz Schmidberger, Fr. Francois Laisney and Fr. Peter Scott; writer/lecturer Dr. Thomas Droleskey, and others.  Friends and allies over a long period of time saw for themselves what our apostolate is all about, namely …

·         That we’ve been defending the Faith for nearly 4 decades – since 1969, going back to when both The Remnant and Tan Books were in their infancy, and no one heard the name Michael Davies, and the International Priestly Society of St. Pius X had not yet been founded in Europe or come to America (our initial thrust was to give wide distribution to the books, The Ottaviani Intervention, exposing the errors of the New Mass, and The Plot Against the Church, one of the most important studies ever produced on the forces at work behind the scenes, especially Judaism and Freemasonry, to destroy the Catholic Church from within);

·         That we were the exclusive American distributor of Abbe Georges de Nantes’ powerful English-edition Book of Accusations Against Pope Paul VI (Liber Accusationis In Paulum Sextum), published in France in 1973 and presented to the “Red” Pope himself for his public crimes of heresy, schism and scandal;

·        That we were the exclusive American distributor of the writings of Fr. Denis Fahey, published at the time by Regina Publications of Dublin, Ireland, especially his all-time masterpiece The Mystical Body of Christ & The Reorganization of Society;

     That we were the first publisher among the English speaking countries – and perhaps first in the entire world, for all we know – to produce a full-length book, In Defense of the Faith (1974), that dissected the New Mass in the light of Thomistic teaching on sacrilege and acknowledged, in the same volume, the historic intervention of Archbishop Lefebvre in saving the traditional Mass from oblivion by restoring the traditional seminary and priesthood;

·         That we were the exclusive American distributor of two vitally important foreign publications of the 1970s: Yves Dupont’s World Trends, published from Australia, the first Catholic journal in the English language to identify, expose and refute, point by point, the numerous errors coming out of Rome during and following the Second Vatican Council – not just Liberalism and Modernism but equally important Americanism and Freemasonry; and Approaches published by Hamish Fraser from from Scotland, whose knowledge of world affairs, the Revolution and Catholic social doctrine had no equal among his contemporaries;

·         That one of our books, Christian Order and the Modern World (1986), not only received considerable praise from scores of traditional Catholics all over the US and in several parts of the world (Archb. Lefebvre himself gave it his highest recommendation as did 2 SSPX superiors), but that it was also credited with the conversion of a certain prominent Wall Street publisher who went into early retirement for the specific purpose of devoting all his resources and energies to spreading his newfound faith;

·         That our book promoting the Ignatian Retreat entitled With Jesus on Retreat remained a favorite of traditional Catholic priests and laity for several consecutive years in the early 1990s (and is still selling today, thanks largely to a world renown exorcist who complimented the author for exposing the Conciliar retreats which favor New Age spiritism that leaves the soul exceedingly vulnerable to demonic manipulation and possession);

·         That another of our books published 3 years later, Christ of All Nations (1996), was used in many parts of the country as primer and study guide for the series of lectures that launched the League of the Kingship of Christ in nearly 30 traditional churches coast to coast between 1997 and 2002 (the book was promoted as an excellent introduction to the mind of the Roman Pontiffs on Our Lord’s social Kingship);

·         That the book by Msgr. Civardi, A Concise Manual of Catholic Action, which we republished in 2000, remains the single most authoritative and comprehensive study of the all-important organized apostolate of Catholic Action ever penned;

·         That our novel, Yuma (2004), on the historic struggle between the Church and the secret societies for the soul and destiny of America, received more testimonials from enthused readers than all our other books combined (a number of these testimonials are posted on our website);

·         That our book, No King But Caesar, exposing the errors and connecting the dots between Protestantism, liberalism, modernism, Freemasonry and Americanism, which was first published in 1994, was so popular that a 5th printing became necessary in 2007 and a 6th printing in 2008;

 That in 2007 we published the writings of two eminent churchmen, both highly praised by St. Pius X and Fr. Fahey for their counterrevolutionary efforts, Card. Pie of Poitiers and Msgr. Henri Delassus; both publications, Selected Writings of Cardinal Pie and Americanism & The Anti-Christian Conspiracy, were never before available to Englih-speaking Catholics (see our "New & Noteworthy" page);

That over the years we’ve disseminated reading materials (from books to brochures) promoting the social reign of Christ the King into the millions, and spanning more than 14 countries;

That’s only a few of the things we here at CTC Books and the Catholic Action Resource Center have been doing.

Now, we hope this doesn’t sound too much like bragging.  Then again, we have every right to be proud of having faithfully served on the front lines in the fight for a Catholic America and Catholic Christendom during a time of almost unprecedented spiritual, ecclesial, cultural and political treason, subversion and upheaval.  We’re proud also, and rightly so, of those heroic Catholics who’ve stood with us against tremendous odds and incredible hardships, and are grateful beyond expression for their fellowship, their prayerful and material support, and their many words of encouragement along the way.

On the other hand, there is no doubt that one of the explanations for the lack of enthusiasm on the part of a greater number of people who you’d think would favor our writings and apostolate but clearly do not (I’m speaking here of our fellow traditionalists who think, speak and act more like compromising conservatives, Republicans, Americanists or otherwise unmilitant Catholics, than integrally traditional Roman Catholics), is that certain Catholics are somewhat reluctant to endorse publications that have been described as “every bit as hard-core orthodox as the encyclicals themselves.”  The individual who wrote that was referring to the great papal encyclicals published between 1832 and 1958.  Though, personally, I consider this as perhaps the best compliment anyone can give a Catholic author, others apparently do not agree.  Sadly, not every Catholic possesses the knowledge of his religion or the courage of his convictions.  Some are known to be timid about exposing such evils as Zionism, Masonry, Americanism, democracy, Vatican II, the holocaust scam, the war on terror hoax, the suppression and falsification of Our Lady of Fatima’s Third Secret, the dangers of the Ecclesia Dei/Indult Mass movement, the cult of sedevacantism ("cult" here referring not to the sedevacantist position per se' but to those who espouse that particular conviction in public conveying the false impression that it is a dogmatic truth rather than a mere personal opinion and nothing more), the rise of American totalitarianism, the coming Universal Satanic Republic – issues thought to be “too hot to handle” and “too controversial.”  What they really mean is too politically incorrect.

However, while some are timid about exposing such evils of great magnitude, by the grace of God we are not.

Some are reluctant to confront the ugly truth about our government’s prior knowledge of 9/11, or its Police State initiatives under the deception of Homeland Security, and its war on terror which is far more a diversion from the government’s war on our faith and freedoms here at home; not a war on terror but more a reign of terror!

While some are reluctant about publicly decrying such things, we are not.

Some are shy about calling the New Mass a sacrilege, which it certainly is.  Or saying that the post-Vatican II popes have committed unspeakable acts of betrayal against Christ, which they certainly have.

While some are shy about these things, we are not.

Others are hesitant in asserting that the Church has placed the highest importance on calling all baptized and confirmed Catholics to the fastidiously organized front-line, in-the-trenches, occupied-territory apostolate of Catholic Action – not just the laity but our consecrated leaders as well, that is, the leaders of the traditional movement; and that the concerted and enterprising activation, in every parish, every diocese and every country, of this proficiently disciplined lay apostolate is the Magisterium’s very own battle plan for winning souls, fostering vocations, rebuilding the Church, toppling our Talmudic/Masonic overlords, transforming society and conquering the world for Christ; and that this Catholic Action crusade ought to be preached not merely at the men’s doctrinal conferences or study circles whereat no more than a mere handful of men are reached, but as the medieval Crusades were preached, from the pulpits and retreat houses and, additionally, through the weekly church bulletins, monthly newsletters and other publications, using the church bookstores and online sites as well to further galvanize the forces of Christ (so many men that would otherwise remain on the sidelines never entering the fight); and that, moreover, it would be sinfully negligent, as the Popes have repeatedly asserted, of our consecrated and lay leaders (the traditional Catholic press, for instance), not to summon the men to this great and most urgent cause, just as it would be if the men being summoned refused to serve, for whatever reason.  The Supreme Pontiffs even went so far as to say that, given the gravity of the crisis of faith and the ferocity of those diabolic conspiracies aimed at nothing less than the overthrow of God and His one Church, this negligence was akin to treason against Christ!

While others are hesitant to assert such Catholic truths fearing they are too extreme or that they will only frighten timid Catholics away or provoke the enemy to attack us with greater vehemence, we are not hesitant, knowing, as I said, that they are but echoes of the profoundly orthodox and charitable utterances of the very vicars of Christ themselves.

And of even greater scandal, still other weak Catholics are afraid of going against the tide by publicly upholding the single most important doctrine of the Church – the supreme sovereignty and social reign of Christ the King – which is also the most politically incorrect doctrine according to the spirit of the age because it is the one doctrine that repudiates everything the modern world blindly holds to as true and sacred and which alone has the power to uproot and overturn the reign of evil in the modern world.

While many are afraid to proclaim the public rights of Our Blessed Savior and His Royal Kingship over the whole world, governments and nations included – and not to exclude our own courts and Congress and Office of the President – we most definitely are not afraid, fortified by the grace of the Divine King and by an unwavering devotion to Mary our Queen.

This we believe at least partially explains why we are not as popular as some of the other more, shall we say moderate or pragmatic, apostolates.  Truth be told, we have no desire to be moderate or pragmatic, if this means being lukewarm, expedient and cowardly.  Through no merit of our own and only by the grace of God, we strive to be militant as the Church is militant and as true Catholics must be militant.  And we make no apologies for it.  For where there is no militancy, as the Church defines it, there is no fidelity to Christ, no holiness of life, no zeal for the things of God, no real Catholic spirit, no real counterrevolution and no hope of restoration let alone salvation.

But there’s another explanation why we are not as widely known as some of the others who’ve made a public stand for Jesus our King, which is perhaps even more fundamental than the ones thus far cited. And that, I’m afraid, is simply a lack of funds.  Rarely do we have adequate resources to publish all that we should and to advertise all that we publish.  This is why it has taken us 8 long years to bring the enduringly popular No King But Caesar back into print, and why we have several other completed projects sitting on the shelf just waiting to see the light of day (please see our "Coming Soon" link).

We really hate to bring up the subject of money.  Unfortunately it is one of those practical necessities without which even our churches cannot subsist.  No apostolate can long endure without financial backing.  And so, since we here at CTC Books and the Catholic Action Resource Center have nowhere near the income that an apostolate of this nature would require to come even close to maximizing our impact on souls and the world in which we live, the world that knows not its God and which is plunging to its ruin as a result, let me take this opportunity to make the following brief appeal to our loyal readership.

If, as a good many of our friends have expressed, you like what we publish; if you recognize our material as something unique, needful and beneficial; if you see them as reflecting the teachings of the Church without compromise, without watering down the faith, without fear of speaking the whole truth; if, in fact, you see us as one of the few Catholic organizations that is in total harmony with the mind of Father Fahey, the Church Militant and the teachings of the Magisterium, then please – please! – support us by making a donation.  As little, or as much and as often as you can afford – monthly, quarterly, yearly – whatever fits your personal budget.  And even if you honestly cannot afford to write a check out to us to further this important work, no matter how much you may want to, you can still lend considerable assistance to this apostolate by praying and offering sacrifices for us, by sharing our literature with others, by spreading the word about our books and articles, by promoting our websites, by writing a review of one of our books, and by recommending our listings to your church bookstore.  Believe me, every little bit helps.  And every little bit is appreciated by us and, more importantly, is seen by God who will never be outdone in generosity and who will repay a hundredfold every act of faith, hope and charity made in His name, which is what this apostolate is really all about.

And in turn, we pledge, once more, to continue doing our part, as we have been doing for going on 40 years now, publishing more and more works in defense of the Faith and concentrating more and more on reestablishing the reign of Christ in the world – without compromise – no matter the cost.

My very sincerest personal thanks for your prayers, generosity and continuing support.

In Christ our King and mary our Queen,

Hugh Akins
